The Protaras Riviera stretches from the dramatic sea cliffs of Cape Greco National Park in the south, through Protaras, Pernera, Ayia Triada and north to Kapparis — a continuous coastal strip with over 25 beaches and bays, protected nature, crystal-clear water and genuine year-round life. Cape Greco — Protected Nature at the Heart of the Riviera
Cape Greco (Cavo Greco) National Park is one of the last stretches of truly untouched coastline in Cyprus. Sea caves carved by the Mediterranean, coastal hiking trails through wild scrubland, cliffs above impossibly clear water, and a landscape completely removed from mass tourism — even in summer. In winter and spring the Cape Greco trails are blanketed in wildflowers and the coastal paths are yours almost entirely. The famous Blue Lagoon sits within the reserve. This is slow travel at its best, and true nature without the crowds.

The Protaras Riviera is remarkable for the sheer number and variety of its beaches. Below is a guide to the main beaches from south to north along the riviera.
Cape Greco Area
Konnos Beach — sheltered bay within the Cape Greco National Park, Blue Flag, surrounded by pine-covered hills, calm turquoise water, consistently rated among the finest beaches in Cyprus. Nisia Beach (Green Bay) — exotic Blue Flag beach with historical significance, crystal-clear water and a secluded feel. Blue Lagoon — a stunning sea area within the Cape Greco reserve, ideal for snorkelling and exploring the sea caves along the rocky coastline.
Protaras
Fig Tree Bay — the iconic Protaras beach, golden sand, shallow water, safe for families, one of the most photographed beaches in Cyprus. Sunrise Beach — lively, easy access, popular in summer. Vrisi Beach I, II and III — three consecutive beaches along the Protaras coastline, each with its own character. Nausicaa Beach, Vrysoudia Beach, Vyzakia Beach, Lombardi Beach, Potami Beach and Ellines Beach — a run of smaller beaches and coves that most visitors never discover, each offering calm water and relative quiet even at the height of summer.
Pernera
Pernera Beach — golden sand, shallow water, suitable for all ages, a quieter alternative to Protaras. Louma Beach — a delightful sheltered bay with soft fine sand. Minas Beach / Sirena Bay — a hidden gem, a small secluded cove between Pernera and Kapparis, the kind of beach that rewards those who explore beyond the main spots.
Ayia Triada
Ayia Triada Beach — a Blue Flag beach that also holds Plastic-Free Beach certification, one of the cleanest and most environmentally committed beaches on the riviera. A calm, beautiful bay popular with local residents year-round.
Kapparis
Kapparis Beach — golden sand, crystal-clear water, more local and less tourist-facing than Protaras. Armyropigado Beach — a small Blue Flag cove of outstanding beauty, enclosed by rocky cliffs with turquoise water that has to be seen to be believed. Glyky Nero Beach — small, calm, with sunbeds, adjacent to Armyropigado. Potamia Beach — dog-friendly, a rarity and a favourite with local families. Skoutarospilioi Beach and Skoutari Beach — quiet retreats with a calm atmosphere, ideal for relaxation away from any crowds. Pezounospilioi Beach, Nisia Gardens Beach and Vali Tou Hatzixeni Beach — smaller coves and bays that define the unspoilt northern end of the riviera.
Winter Sun and Nature — The Off-Season Riviera
The Protaras Riviera is a genuine year-round destination, and the off-season has qualities the summer cannot match. From November through March, the northern areas — Pernera, Ayia Triada, Kapparis — offer warm winter sun (afternoons regularly reach 18-22°C), uncrowded beaches, wildflowers on the Cape Greco nature trails, and an authentic Cypriot pace of life. This is not a dead resort in winter. The beaches are calm and clean. The sea caves are at their clearest. The hiking trails through Cape Greco National Park are green and fragrant. Local restaurants are open. And over 25 beaches sit almost entirely empty — true nature, without the tourism.
Year-Round Dining
Most restaurants in Kapparis are open year-round — including Matu, Karras, and Pig and Whizzle. Di Capillio in Pernera is open all year. The village of Paralimni, a few minutes inland, has a full local restaurant, cafe and bar scene throughout the year — this is where the Cypriot community eats, not the tourist strip.
Summer on the Riviera
In summer the Protaras Riviera is one of the Mediterranean’s finest beach destinations — 12-hour sunshine days, warm calm sea, watersports, families and long evenings.
